Traditional methods of proportionality in architecture are based on the principle of similarity of parts. It is believed that the use of a connected system of proportions ensures the unity of the composition. Depending on the idea, the architect uses relations expressed in whole numbers or irrational relations based on a system of simple graphic constructions.

Construction, design

The principle of frugal use of material and labor is the basis of all construction. The architect strives for maximum comfort and artistic expressiveness at lower costs, evaluates all criteria of economy - design, construction and operation in their interaction.

In the design process, the search for a rational volume-planning and spatial structure is underway. In industrial and public buildings, in objects of culture, sports, etc. the principles of transformation and maneuverability of the use of premises are checked in order to obtain an economic effect.

The architect of the future will be based on the imitation of nature, because it is the most rational, durable and economical way of all methods.

Consideration of the object of design as a system leads the architect to understand the composition as a concrete unity and internally dismembered integrity. Mastering the composition is connected with the ability to distinguish the main, essential, to establish the correct ratio of the main and secondary.

Work on the composition, first of all, consists of searching for the spatial organization of the environment. The integrity of the spatial compositional structure is determined by the expediency of the internal construction and external connections of the object and is expressed in the appropriateness of forms and their harmonization, in an appeal to the inner world of man, to his archetypal sense of aesthetic order.

Artistic means and regularities

The circle of creative problems includes certain means and regularities that form the compositional theme of the work and give the object aesthetic and artistic expressiveness. The regularities of the composite construction should derive from the holistic concept of the given design object.

The means of harmonization in architecture include architectonics (tectonics), scale and scale, rhythmic and metric regularities, and other means of architectural composition.

Work on the architecture of the object in the design process begins as soon as the volumetric and spatial construction is developed, and the functional solution is embodied in the constructive design. The architectural order of the work as a system of relations between the whole and its separate parts is manifested in a harmonious construction, rhythmic and metrical readings, and a large-scale structure. The method of complex design contributes to the understanding of tectonics as an artistically conceived constructive structure and expression of static regularities.
